2+2=5 ?

When the protagonist of the classic Orwell novel 1984 is asked during torture whether 2+2 equals 5, he wonders if the state makes it true and everybody is made to believe it, does that make 2+2=5 true?
Used in a novel published in 1949, Orwell’s allegory for totalitarianism, revisionism and the sheep like behavior of gullible citizens still rings true.

Pakistan too suffers from this 2+2=5 syndrome. Does our educational system produce a crop of students who are able to think out of the box, challenge existing notions and have the courage to bring change? Is creativity encouraged or discouraged. Sadly the answer to these questions is no. Our educational system does not produce such a crop of students and yes, creativity is discouraged. Barring the institutions that are located in our apparently progressive and elite urban bubbles, curiosity and questioning is discouraged, though putting the blame solely on the educational system would be unfair.

Take a look at our culture, after all every institution that exists in this country is derived from our culture. Does our culture promote values of free speech, encourage curiosity and applaud change?
Years ago when studying biology in my 9th class, our teacher skipped the chapter on evolution because it was un-Islamic.  In my 2nd year, my physics teacher spent two class sessions explaining to us in no less detail about the physical and mathematical proofs of Shab e Mairaj. No questions were asked, nor were we expected to ask. Who would have dared to ask?

Including religious content in school textbooks and especially scientific textbooks discourages the student’s ability to think and reason with an open mind. Recently, Maulana Sherani, chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology called for ‘introducing a uniform system of education throughout the country, integrating religious teachings with the contemporary, mainstream education’. In other words, he envisions a madrassafied educational system of Pakistan while remaining completely oblivious to the rising sectarian tensions, religious extremism and economic strife. But Maulana sahib is a product of this system, what else he could have said?

Putting aside educational institutions, would questioning our values be allowed in our culture? The images of Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Bhatti and Sabeen Mehmud pop up as a warning. Question and you will share the same fate. Many pens stop. Many cerebral cogs cease to work. The murderer of Sabeen Mehmud was an IBA graduate, but more so he was the product of this culturally constrained educational machinery. When confronted with facts which threaten to bring down everything you have been taught to believe is true, turning to violence is only but natural. What sort of educated aalim was Aamir Liaquat Husain when he spewed vicious comments on the Ahmadi minority on live television? Weren’t those who introduced Blasphemy law and laying foundations of hatred towards no Muslims, products of this system?

Extremism is a product of this system and it exists on both ends of our country’s religious spectrum. Moderation is but a wispy figment of our imagination.

Look at the scenario unfolding on Pakistani social media. The people either out rightly accept a news or out rightly reject it. Everything is seen in a George Bush-esque black and white perspective. The amount of vitriol that is spewed out, the amount of hate that is generated, the number of unfounded accusations passionately advocated, give us an insight into the mind of an educated and tech savvy Pakistani- the so called future. The exploits of Imran Khan’s social media supporters have been discussed by every respected journalist. Say anything about PTI and you would be harassed by trolls who will insist on you to take your words back. Scratch that, you will find many extremist organizations like ASWJ running their social media accounts with ease and spreading their toxic ideology to the gullible and mostly young social media users. Don’t forget the Rawalpindi sponsored ghairat brigade as well. Criticize the ‘boys’ and you will face an onslaught of jingoist zombies who will make you cringe with their indoctrinated wisdom.

Moderation has become but a wispy figment of our imagination. The age old machinery continues to churn out more obsolete products.

The practice of revisionism and adding religious hues to textbooks that started in Bhutto’s time, intensified in Zia’s era and given an added momentum in Musharraf’s years has put Pakistan on a path which only leads to religious fascism.

No matter how much funds are reserved for educational growth, it still won’t matter if the children are taught to believe in the superiority of their own faith, suspect minorities and present faith inspired counter arguments. Our textbooks glorify the battles between Muslims and Hindus. The Hindus are introduced as uncultured folk who are shown the light of culture by the Muslim invaders. And they always end up deceiving Muslims. Imagine being a Hindu child in a Pakistani classroom. In our secondary level social studies textbooks, Muslims of Pakistan are always told to be related to Arabs, Turks and Persians. No link to South Asia is ever mentioned. One religion is taught to be made up of a Master Race and other minority religions are taught to consist of second class citizens. What sort of adults will our children become after being fed with such drivel? Outside of academic institutions, people around these children continue to inculcate them with ideas of segregation, intolerance and being subservient to the existing moth eaten culture which has brought Pakistan to this state where governance without patronage of criminal activities is impossible and where vote is still given on caste, creed and connections not on the manifesto and resume.

For these moth eaten societal structures to change we have to ask ourselves the ultimate questions

If your religion says that 2+2=5, would you accept it?
If your culture says that 2+2=5, would you accept it?

Black Contents of a White Memo

This is in response to the recent blog on The Express Tribune by the name of, Can the US Government kill American Citizens?
Although I agree with the author on the point that any person found guilty of treason should be punished, I would like to add a few points of my own, and clarify some confusion caused over the White memo.
A brief summary of the White memo is provided below:
1) The White memo lays down the legal justification for targeting persons through drones. US Citizens, who are al Qaeda operational leaders, members and sympathisers, are the intended targets.
2) USA assumes that al Qaeda is continually planning terrorist activities and thus US drones can strike al Qaeda suspects anywhere, any time. Even if the attack was never planned in actuality, nor had any threat appeared, but just on the off chance, US Administration can authorise a drone strike so that any ‘supposed’ threat might be neutralised.
3) If you can’t capture a “suspected” terrorist for questioning and interrogation because you “think” that, your troops might encounter mortal risk, then just carry out a drone strike and save the trouble of interrogation and tedious judicial process.
4) According to the memo, even if there is no evidence that the suspects are an imminent threat, but only believes and suspects that they “might” be an imminent threat, the USA has the authority to strike them whenever and wherever.
5) Without even confirmation from interrogation and just on the suspicion that the suspect has not renounced the terrorist activities, the USA can assassinate him.
6) USA assumes that killing of suspected al Qaeda members before they even become imminent threats is justified because the US Administration thinks so. So, please repose your faith in it and don’t question it.
7) The memo doesn’t define the word ‘imminent’. It doesn’t tell how imminent a threat has to be in order for a drone strike to be called. From the document, one gets an impression that if US officials think that such and such persons will come together to plan something sinister, they become qualified targets.
Dear readers, this is an extraordinary document, the implications of whose contents are horrific.
USA is fighting violence with more extreme violence. The issue is not about killing known terrorists who are US citizens. The issue is about killing “suspected terrorists” about whom the government will not share any information, nor the decisions will be available for judicial review, so that the government is not answerable to judiciary and cannot be held responsible even if the drone strike missed the intended target and killed innocent civilians.
There is a huge difference between killing a suspect and killing a known terrorist.
Yes, those US citizens who are promulgating extremism and threatening the US president must be brought to book, but killing and assassinating before the crime was even committed?
Before they are even brought under trial?
That is just plain barbaric and puts US administration at par with al Qaeda.
Through this memo, one gets the impression that the US government is advocating a ‘shoot first ask questions later’ policy and one has to ask, whom will it benefit?
The first benefactor of this drone war would be al Qaeda itself. Remember, al Qaeda and its allies are fighting not just on the military front but on the ideological front as well. It is a hateful and detestable ideology that won’t be just eliminated by drone strikes but only gain followers due to unjustified American violence.
The second benefactor would be the neo-cons and defence contractors. The neo-cons, thanks to Obama, have just continued George W Bush’s policies without any hindrances and the appointment of Bush era CIA torturer John Brennan proves that.
The defence contractors would benefit because of increased orders for more drones and associated technologies, which would mean more cash rolling in.
Even if we assume that drone attacks have achieved intended military results (corroborated by the near wipe out of top al Qaeda cadre), then do they guarantee that the hateful ideology of al Qaeda would just disappear with it leaders?
Thanks to continuous military adventures and arrogant outreach efforts by USA, al Qaeda’s offshoots have spread far and wide, who act quite independent from the mother organisation and are even more eager to spread destruction.
If the American drone policy remains the same as evident from the White memo, then the issue of Islamic radicalism might never be resolved.
Frankly, I found the White memo as repugnant as Mein Kampf.

The Blame Lies with Us.

I thought that this was it.

The brave Hazara protestors by sitting silently on Alamdar road, without firing a single shot, without burning a single building had brought down one of the most corrupt and inept governments in  six decades  of Pakistan’s existence.

I thought that a new day has begun, the overwhelming support for the Hazara community and the rejection of all forms of sectarian violence was heartwarming.  We Are All Hazara, Justice For Hazara and Quetta Sit-in hash tags flooded twitter, in the end, the government decided that ignoring the issue was no longer an option and caved in.

Peaceful struggle had won.

But then, on the evening of this Tuesday, another tragedy struck. This time in Alam Gudar, KPK,  where  15 tribesmen were reported, shot dead by ‘unknown’ persons, which tribesmen claim were security forces and which the security forces claim were the militants of Mangal Bagh. They rose up in protest, bodies were lain down in front of KPK Governor, Syed Masood Kausar’s house, a delegation sent to present demands, negotiations were reported to be successful, the delegation returned to the protestors, but they did not accept the offer. Their demand was that the government should end operation in the tribal area.

The delegation had failed them.

They protested on,  Senator Hameedullah Jan Afridi, attempted to speak with the tribesmen, but the enraged tribesmen hurled shoes and stones at him, police came in, tear gas shells were fired, protestors were beaten, dispersed and the dead bodies hauled over trucks and moved to cold storage.

This happened in the province of a democratically elected government of Awami National Party.Regardless of who killed the tribes people, whether it were Mangal Bagh henchmen in FC disguise or whether it was the security forces  who shot the civilians, in the end it mattered how a democratic government who’s steeped in the ethos of non-violence promulgated by Bacha Khan, ended up dealing with the protestors.

It was a sensitive issue dealt with all the sensitivity of a blunt knife. If that’s the way the KPK government chooses to end protests of Tribesmen, then their reconciliation approaches in the war-ravaged areas of FATA must be questioned.

I ask the KPK government, did the protestors set fire to any government building?

Did they destroy any public property?

Were they a threat to the security of KPK?

Were their hurled shoes similar in threat to rockets and shells?

The protest was overall peaceful; the 12-member delegation that was sent couldn’t effectively fight the tribesmen case and hence enraged the tribesmen. However, the tribesmen didn’t go on a rampage, they chose to sit in. If they chose a peaceful method of protest in the hope of being given the same justice as the Hazara community and have their grievances addressed, then it was the government’s responsibility to reply in a similar manner.

Another important thing that strikes me in this tragedy is the deafening media silence on the issue. How many channels covered the sit in? But perhaps the important question here is how many Pakistanis actually chose to give an ear and an eye to the sit in?

Let’s ask ourselves truthfully; weren’t we looking for more entertainment provided by a Canadian national hiding behind bulletproof glass?Let us answer honestly; aren’t we desensitized over daily killings in FATA?

The details of the massacre are wooly and the nation needs to ask questions. Who did the killings? Why is it so that those killings come days after Lashkar e Islam Chief Mangal Baghthreatened violence against Khasadars, and for the first time in three years, Tribal Militia was redeployed in Bara to counter that threat. Who were those people that were gunned down? Were they related to the Khasadars? Answers must be given, perpetrators must be brought to book. The KPK government must be made to apologize for using force against the protestors !But no, perhaps the answers to these questions, the solution to our problems lies in the hollow  harangues of a certain Shaikh Ul Islam. I blame you Pakistanis.

Another Islamophobic Movie: Please Ignore

After numerous deaths, burnings, protests, suicide attacks, website bans and religio-jingoism laced TV Talk Shows later, it seems like we are going back to square one.  Another Anti Islam ‘movie’ called, The Innocent Prophet - Life of Muhammad from the Point of View of an Ex-Muslim, is being released by an ‘Ex-Muslim’ and a Pakistani refugee in Spain, named Imran Firasat. The usual suspects Dr. Terry Jones and Islam Watch .Org are collaborating on the film project, which is supposed to be a documentary questioning whether the Prophet of Islam promoted peace and showing how Islam spreads violence. The tried and tested formula of spewing out amateurish and laughable Anti Islamic bilge in the name of Freedom of Expression is again being used.
Imran Firasat
The documentary was supposed to be released on 14th December 2012, but after a fierce back lash from Muslim groups, and most importantly, after warnings by the government of Spain that he might be deported back to Pakistan if he continues with the attempt, Imran Firasat has decided to temporarily delay the launch of his documentary which he says will be released online after he has shown the authorities that  there is “nothing in this movie which doesn´t fall under the right of freedom of expression” and which, “will not cause any kind of loss to humanity”. You are allowed to roll your eyes.
What is anticipated from this documentary is more Anti Islam rhetoric and what is also expected is the violent Muslim reaction which will certainly lead to a couple of deaths and after a few days, when all the hate from either side has been spilled out, when Muslim conservatives will have strengthened their positions in their respective societies, this incident will be forgotten. The perpetrators of anti Islamic speech will again prepare for a hate campaign, which as the trend shows are becoming more moronic with each attempt.
But, let us not give importance to an another kiddish attempt against Islam, it pains me when I see innocent lives lost over things that will be forgotten after a couple of days, what will not come back are the persons who will lose their lives.
But having said that it is worth noting that the amount of content vilifying Islam and Muslims has increased as of late, and thanks to the clerics from our side, the anti Islam hatemongers  are finding themselves publicized without any advertising overhead to worry about. Let’s face it; The Innocence of the Muslims would not have spread like a wildfire if the Egyptian clerics hadn’t showed the clips on national televisions. And it’s not that the Muslims are violent by nature, it’s just that if you keep playing the hateful images again and again in front of an already infuriated audience, you are bound to incense them further. This is what George W Bush and Co. did with the American public by stamping the images of burning Twin Towers on the minds of ordinary American citizens and created a war hysteria that would see Iraq and Afghanistan devastated and USA slumping into recession.
The solution to these issues lies not in more violence, but providing logical counter arguments to the detractors. In reacting violently against such rubbish attempts to malign the Muslim World , it would be a much better option if we made movies, documentaries and arranged interfaith conferences that reflect the Islam that our Prophet (PBUH) preached and not the Islam that Terry Jones and Imran Firasat want the world to believe.  It astonishes me to see that how easily we fall for the tricks of these hate mongers and forget the lessons of peace and patience that Islam has taught us. It pains me to see that we readily ignore the works of many Islamic organizations in western countries who strive day and night to promote the real Islam while Terry Jones and Co. get prime time space on our TV sets.  Yes, sooner or later, this hate-filled documentary is going to be released and yes, the Islamophobes will continue to indulge in their odium against Islam, but we have to show ourselves to be above such irrational, imprudent and comic attempts. There are better and more peaceful ways to protest. My request to religious leaders is to show responsibility and calm the masses should any attempt is made.
The last words belong to a homeopathy student Sabahat Siddiqui, who in response to this incident told me,
If the world desires any kind of peace, there must be laws to stop such hateful material to be made or published against any religion! All faiths are from the God and should be respected likewise.

Pharaoh Mursi?

This week Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi  stupefied Egyptian public and Islamists around the world with his new decree which  grants him sweeping powers that practically make him immune to judicial decisions and gives him near absolute power in constitutional matters.

Pharaoh Mursi??
At the time of writing Egypt is roiling with mass pro democracy protests that are spreading with the passing of each day. On 27 November 2012, almost 100,000 protesters flocked to Egypt’s iconic Tahrir Square to protest against Morsi’s new decree, which they call as a power grab and led the Nobel Laureate Opposition leader, Al Baradei to pronounce Morsi as Egypt’s New Pharaoh.

The decree gives President Morsi the power to proclaim any new law without any hindrance and no challenge could be made to his decisions, not even in the Supreme Court. He also actively banned the judiciary from dissolving the Shura Council (i.e. the Upper House of the Parliament). This has been viewed as a defensive strategy by Morsi to protect the Shura Council from any judicial decisions, seeing that the Supreme Court already dissolved the lower house of Parliament on the premise, that the elections were held on rules that were in contrast to the country’s constitution. That decision pitched Morsi against the Judiciary that has remain unchanged since Mubarak’s reign ended in 2011.

Morsi’s new decree also immunizes his decisions on “National Sovereignty” from any judicial review until a new assembly is elected early next year. Now what those issues of national sovereignty are, no one from the Morsi camp has been able to satisfactorily explain it to the world at large. Most probably, the issues of national sovereignty pertain to his decisions on foreign and domestic affairs like imposition of martial law, severing diplomatic ties with nations and dismissing the cabinet.

Egypt unsurprisingly has risen up in protest
He also gives himself the power to tackle any challenges by issuing uncontested decisions to protect any state institutions from performing their functions. This has been interpreted to mean that the President has given himself extensive standby emergency powers, should such a situation arise.

Needless to say, this new decree has raised more than just eyebrows. Egypt is up in protest, and this protest seems to have united the hitherto divided and diffused opposition.  Although it is the common Egyptian on the street protesting against the decree because he sees it as a return to Mubarak era and the judiciary, who see it as a blow to their authority,  it is very  interesting to note that the protest camp has also seen former military men join the Anti-Morsi demonstrations.

In an interesting article in the Washington Post , it has been reported that the mass protests are also being used by Anti-Muslim Brotherhood elements, notably the liberals, secularists and Mubarak era military officers, to topple Mursi’s Islamist regime. It is important to bear in mind that Mursi faces opposition from the Coptic Church and secularists who claim that the Brotherhood dominated panel does not reflect the pluralistic identity of Egypt .

Despite the allegations by the liberals and the church leaders that Morsi is trying to pave the way for Salafists to come into power, it is worth noting that Morsi has proved to be so far not the demon that the western analysts predicted. In fact, his relations with USA have improved since he brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza much to the consternation of Islamist and Jewish right-wingers.  It remains to be seen how big a role USA plays in this ongoing drama seeing that ice between the Morsi led government and USA has just started to melt. The White House, given its apparent cold-shouldering of the Islamist regime, has stopped short of denouncing the decree and called for a peaceful solution of the issue.

From the view point of Morsi, we must remember that from day one, he has been on a quest against ousting Mubarak era officials from any positions of power. So far he has been generally successful since he has effectively sidelined the military officials from interfering in important political decisions and also removed the Mubarak era prosecutor general Abdel Maguid Mehmoud, who had infuriated Egyptian revolutionaries , by playing an important role in the acquittal of Mubarak era official who allegedly were involved in violent crackdowns against Anti-Mubarak protesters.

This whole play, it seems, is heading towards the-soon-to-be-introduced constitution, which many fear, would impose stricter Islamist oriented laws in the country, which the Mubarak era elements, liberals, pro-USA parties, church leaders and secularists are opposing in principle. How will the new constitution shape Egypt and its role in the middle east, we will have to wait and see, as the success of the Arab spring  depends on how Morsi lets democracy flourish in post Mubarak Egypt.

Combining Wahhabism and Capitalism to Destroy Islamic Heritage

The current controversy of the potential Saudi demolition of Riyad-Al-Jannah and the graves of Islamic Caliphs Abu Bakar and Omar is one in a long line of projects that the world’s biggest exporter of crude oil has undertaken to erase Islamic Heritage sites. The Saudi obsession with everything concrete and steel is a cause of concern for Muslims around the world. The construction of enormous towers and skyscrapers including the ghastly Mecca Clock Tower tell us something about the future plans of the Saudis.

A 2011 report by The Independent  paper titled “Mecca for the rich: Islam's holiest site 'turning into Vegas” written by Jerome Taylor (who wrote the recent story about the planned Saudi destruction of Riyad-Al-Jannah etc), says that the Saudis are planning to turn Mecca into a playground for the rich, by building sky scrapers and luxury hotels that cater for the rich Muslims coming from all over the world. The same newspaper reported back in April 2006 about the Saudi construction rampage in Islam’s holiest sites.

Systematic destruction of the holy sites and building hotels and resorts is being backed by the blessings of its religious clerics, who endorse the destruction of the holy sites because of their (baseless) fear that idolatry might creep into Muslim ranks.  Wahhabism, which is an extreme and strict form of Islam that denounces the reverence of any holy site, is the official religion in Saudi Arabia. It is worth noting that the same brand of Islam is practiced by the Taliban who have been involved in the destruction of Bamyan Buddhas and the attack on the legendary Sufi Rehman Baba’s shrine  in Peshawar. However, the Wahabbi Kingdom seems to be on something more than destroying shrines, graves and imposing its own brand of Islam.

Even a cursory search reveals that the Saudis are embarking on a real estate and renewable energy projects as they plan for the future post 2030 when it is feared that the supply of oil, which generates 86% of the kingdom’s revenue, might start to dwindle thus forcing the Saudis to import additional oil from other countries. The Economist states that the rapid increase in demand for oil inside Saudi Arabia has increased by 37% and 65% of its electricity is generated by the oil that it produces. For now, increase in oil price has caused the wealth of Saudis to soar, quite literally, and their construction of the Kingdom Tower is a testament to the money flooding in.
But the increase in oil consumption, the increasing American reliance on Shale Gas , the expectation that Canada and Mexico might become the new middle east  and the awareness of  the fact that oil reserves would not last forever has led Saudi Arabia to consider alternate forms of revenue generation which include real estate, Hajj ( obviously),banking sector and other renewable forms of energy. Khalid Al Falih, the President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, reflects the future strategy of the Saudis when he says that Saudi Aramco wants to transform from an oil& gas company to a ‘global energy and chemicals enterprise’. Apart from energy sources, the real estate sector is booming thanks to the swelling population and the increase in tours by the increasingly affluent middle-class of the Muslim world.

So how does the new course of Saudi economy relate to destruction of Islam’s holy sites? In this regard, my hypothesis is that the Saudis under the valid pretext of real state expansion are destroying the holy sites by invoking the tenets of Wahhabism but on the other hand, in order to clear the way for capitalist expansion projects and to keep up with the rest of the world they are back tracking on the Wahabi doctrine which vehemently opposes all forms of modernization.  The real estate development and other modernization projects can be undertaken anywhere in the kingdom but it seems that the Wahabbi clerics are capitalizing on this opportunity to erase the early history of Islam and increase their hold on the religion. Few countries have dared to raise voice against this heinous crime of the destruction of Islamic holy sites, fearing diplomatic repercussions that might arise. Yet we Pakistanis Muslims scream over the depiction of the Prophet (PBHUH) in the western media, burn buildings, kill people and block websites in protests but do not raise a single voice when the house of Hazrat Khadija (R.A) is turned into a public toilet block and when the Saudi Islamic affairs ministry declares that “the green dome (of Masjid Nabwi) shall be demolished and the three graves flattened in the Prophet's Masjid".

The time to raise voice against this crime of titanic proportions is now!

The duplicity of Pakistani Opinion Makers

Stephen Covey once said; The most important ingredient we put into any relationship is not what we say or what we do, but what we are. And if our words and our actions come from superficial human relations techniques (the Personality Ethic) rather than from our own inner core (the Character Ethic), others will sense that duplicity. We simply won't be able to create and sustain the foundation necessary for effective interdependence.

For more than 60 years of its existence Pakistan has been ruled by the elite the rich the capitalist the landlord he affluent or whatever category you might want to assign to this group of people. Name me one instance..one event one government one military establishment where scions of the elite and liberal class did not preside over. How effectively and efficiently they have controlled our masses for 60years one must hand it over to them.

Right from the First president of Pakistan Iskender Mirza to the current president Asif Ali Zardari. From Nadeem F Paracha to Nusrat Javed how many of our journalists businessmen polticians and social workers have reaped the fruits of the western brand of liberalism and present  Janus like two faces to the world. One reserved for the masses and one reserved for their elite friends.

But one must stop here and ask, is it just he fault of our liberal elites that is the root of Pakistan's problems??

No!

A resounding No!! The mullah and fundamentalists championed by such figures as Mufti Mehmood, Shah Noorani, Khawaja Qamar Sialvi and Maulana Maudoodi..these men are as much responsible to the current state of Pakistan as are the liberals capitalists and generals.

So one may ask, which of these ideologies that one should choose in order to make Pakistan a better place to live. Should I follow the generals who although come in power and try to sew up a tattered country but once they depart, they leave the country in a much worse fix.Cases in point- the Ayub, Yahya, Zia and Musharraf Regimes. So should I follow liberals lead by PPP whose incoherent financial planning horrendous economic performance(1.7% GDP growth rate in the1995-96 period) has brought Pakistan to the edge of disaster and who ironically helped prop up the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

Or! Should I follow the religious parties who unholy blending of politics and religion has divided Pakistan along sectarian lines!

Or should  I follow the media who's antics were laid bare in the Malik Riaz Bahria scandal??

They who puport to work for the people and claim to be from the masses but are entirely different personalities behind the scenes, should I believe those duplicitious figures??

NO! I follow none of them becuase none of them represent the Pakistanis per se. Some of them are liberals, some of them are socialists some of them are saudi or iranian aligned religious politicians some are pro India and some are pro USA...but pray, name me one of those so called  political military and religious demagogues who have in actuality, followed the Ideology of Jinnah, the ideology of the founding fathers.

NONE OF THEM!

You people have a problem with my tweeting of the so called scandalous pictures of Marvi Sirmed Mehmal Sarfaraz and Nusrat Javed. You who think that I am breaching privacy ethics. Well, I dont have a problem with their drinking wine or bedding each other..its their life. My problem is their duplictious personalities. How many times havnt I heard Nusrat Javed call upon God,Prophets and their companions to deplore the condition of Islam and Pakistanis and then I see those pictures. I ask you why? Why this duplicity??

It is my dream to hold high office in Pakistan and I dont know if this dream comes true or not but let me make it plain clear. I will purge Pakistan off these two faced monsters, I will cleanse Pakistan, off this extremist filth. I will hunt them down till none of them or descendants remain alive. And then will Pakistan be free of the vermim that are eating away its foundations.

Thankyou for reading my humble blog.

Blog on Malala YousafZai coming soon.

Call for National Psychotherapy

Somewhere in the White House, US President Barack Hussein Obama was sitting with his generals and advisers in a live video conference with leaders of Israel and India. Obama is concerned that his plan to destroy Muslims is not going well and his allies haven’t been of much help.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his gentle and low voice squeaks in the screen, ‘Mr. Obama why do you look so worried?’

Obama who’s head is buried in his hands looks up at the screen and says, ‘Nothing Manu  bro, recently there haven’t been much attacks against Muslims, I think we are losing our steam’.

‘ No, we are not’ Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu in his strong Philadelphian accent chips in, ‘ we are trying to buy some major TV channels in Muslim countries so that we can indoctrinate their populations with our Zionist ideology’.

Obama looks up at Netanyahu and asks him, ‘how much money would I have to keep giving you to buy Muslim media and business assets? In case you haven’t realized, there’s a recession going on in here and my voters are keeping an eye on this one’ He said, anxiety apparent in his eyes.

‘As long as the media remains in our grip everything would be fine’ said Netanyahu.

‘ Don’t worry Sir Obama Sir, we have recruited Veena Malik and she would definitely do her best to defame Pakistani Military and ISI because if we destroy ISI and Pak Army, we can easily take over the Muslim world and my generals can finally enjoy a Jack Daniels at the Lahore Gymkhana’, chirped Manmohan Singh.

‘What if they treat her like Shakeel Afridi’ , Obama asked Manmohan.

‘ Oh  no no sir this is not possible sir, as you see we have quite a lot of liberal politicians and media anchors in our employ and they are doing their best to provide a cover for Veena” said Manmohan, self satisfaction evident in his voice.

‘ Hey OB’ Netanyahu said, ‘ I see that you are still looking worried , thinking that the  damage in the  Muslim world is not enough eh?’ asked the Israeli  PM. ‘ I have a plan’ he said dropping his voice conspiratorially low.

‘What ?’ said Obama now in a hushed voice and leaning towards the screen.

‘ Why don’t we publish another set of cartoons of the Muslim Prophet, that will enrage them for sure like it did last time’, said Netanyahu.

‘ I have got a better idea this time’ , said Obama, now smiling.’ Why don’t we make a  film this time, and then spread it all over, that will enrage the Muslims, and then they would peacefully protest, but we will insert our agents who will incite the peaceful Muslims to violence and we can all cheer as their shops and buildings and hospitals are burnt and razed to the ground’.

‘Hallelujah’ cried the Israeli and Indian Prime minister in unison.

Dear Readers, this conversation did not take place, so says logic common sense and media reports. However, it’s frightening to see how much of this fictional story can actually be viewed as truth by many Pakistanis. This is what we as a nation have become.

Targeting of everything American was the order of the day on Yaum-e- Ishq-e- Rasool . Yes, by the grace of Almighty, we burnt many infidel restaurants but in doing so, we also destroyed the lively hoods of many of our fellow citizens. My friend told me of a protestor who was beating a burning empty police car? I wondered why beat a burning police car, which has no infidel occupants? Children reveled in the carnage that ensued on the streets of Lahore Karachi Peshawar and Islamabad.  Adults looted medicine shops and burnt trucks and buses.

On that day, our nation showed symptoms of psychosis.

Psychosis is an aberration in mental health. The sufferer loses contact with reality. Delusions are a symptom of a psychosis. Delusion is an erroneous belief that does not have any  rational or logical foundation. One of the types of delusions characterized by psychologists is the delusion of persecution in which the person wrongly and irrationally believes that people are conspiring against him and desire nothing but to hurt him.  It is an observation of mine that a vast majority of Pakistanis have slipped into the Delusion of Persecution.  On  a simple matter of peacefully registering a protest, we took to the streets and after all was done we had the gumption to say that the movie and the ensuing violence was an American Zionist conspiracy because Muslims always conduct peaceful protests and that those Zionists and Yanks really want to destroy us.
After all this happening, can we still remain in denial and reject calls for a National Psychotherapy?
