Washing Dishes

Washing dishes can be a pain in the a$$. For somebody who is not really used to washing even a glass of water, so washing dishes after breakfast, lunch and dinner can be a bit unnerving (to say the least).

So, after arriving here, I was really annoyed at washing dishes and cleaning up after I had food, but now I am getting used to that and even finding ways to decrease the amount of time I spend on it. The biggest issue that I feel while washing dishes is scrubbing the frying pan and the cooking pots. Plates are easy and so are the glasses and cups.

In order to avoid getting too much dishes involved I have developed my own menus that require either one plate or a cooking pot. In this case, sandwiches are the best option. When you have exams going on, or you are too tired to cook and wash dishes, then you can just make sandwiches. They are healthy, wholesome and satisfying. Here is a recipe for sandwiches that I use. Precooked chicken slices, baby spinach leaves, olives, cheese slices, sauces of your choice (I normally use an ariabatta chili sauce or a ranch sauce), bread slices and put them together in any sequence you like. Now warm it a bit in the microwave (30 seconds would be fine) and viola! You have got yourself a sandwich that takes 7-8 minutes for an inexperienced guy to make and 2-3 minutes for an experienced guy (like me).

If you happen to live in a high altitude area like me and can see the city spread below you like small toy houses, then you might have the chance to make yourself healthy, because here sometimes you have to walk to train stations that are 20, 30 minutes from home and you are either going up street or below and that really exercises your leg muscles and helps your lungs. Thankfully, the nearest train station to my home is just 12 minutes away and if have to catch a bus then the 548 bus has a stop that's right in front of my house and if I have to go to the market (I love Coles) then this 548 bus takes me to it and lands me directly in front of it, so thankfully I don’t have to move my legs much unlike my fellow friends. May be God doesn’t want me to exercise, obviously I am not complaining :).
